Here are some of the blogs that our staff here at Careers Without Limits subscribe to and think will be helpful for you... Or at least find mildly entertaining:
Jessica Mah is a rising senior at UC Berkely. In high school, she ran her own enterprise web solutions company before attending Simon's Rock, the Early College. She's now working on her company, Indinero.com
This blog is one of the blogs that I look forward to more than any other that I subscribe to. It is world's away from the standard jargon-laden business articles that you will typically read when seeking entrepreneurial advice. Jessica is accomplished well-beyond her years and her experience is extremely valuable, but her hilarious writing style is what will make you subscribe to this blog. Can't we all relate to a 18 year old who is in college and successfully running two companies between classes... Right? That being said, I have never read one of Jessica's posts that I didn't learn from, or that at least didn't remind me of something that I need to be doing.
Penelope Trunk's Brazen Careerist
Penelope is the founder of 3 startups-most recenly, Brazen Careerist, a web service to help companies find candidates. Her career advice appears in more than 200 newspapers and magazines including Time Magazine, San Francisco Chronicle, and Boston Globe. In a review of this blog, Business Week called Penelope's writing "poetic".
This is another excellent blog, which technically is about "career advice", but is also extremely entertaining and funny. Penelope's advice usually comes in the form of crazy metaphors and outrageous stories, but is always hard-hitting and thought-provoking. She typically adds posts every couple of days, so this is a good one to subscribe to, so you can always get the latest content.
Social Media and the Open Enterprise
We became aware of Paul Gillin upon finding his book, Secrets of Social Media Marketing, and loved the book so started reading the blog. Paul Gillin is a "long-time technology journalist who's worked almost exclusively online since 1999." Paul is an extremely accomplished writer and his take on the relationship between the social media and business landscapes is always insightful. This is a blogroll and not a book review, but if you are at all interested in online business ventures or taking the first steps to getting you or your company online, we highly recommend Secrets of Social Media Marketing.
The Blog of Author Tim Ferriss
Experiments in Lifestyle Design
Tim Ferris is the Man! He is also the author of the New York Times #1 bestseller, The Four Hour Work Week. Tim has a way of making the seemingly impossible possible. His blog tracks his travels and exploits around the world and also offers insighful advice for entrepreneurs. The blog and the book are great!
